Common Questions
What is Billhaven?
Billhaven is an Ottawa-based service that negotiates Canadian telecom bills for people who want to pay less without dealing with providers themselves. Our mission is simple: help households keep more of their money through a process that is transparent, fair, and straightforward.
How does Billhaven work?
Send us your bill details. If there’s room to lower your rate, we get your authorization and contact your provider.
How much money can I save?
Savings depend on your provider, plan, location, and current discounts. We typically aim to save clients hundreds of dollars per year.
Can I just negotiate myself?
Yes. You can contact your provider directly. The tradeoff is time, hold queues, and knowing what to ask for. Billhaven handles the calls and negotiation for you, saving you the time and frustration of dealing with your provider.
Will my service be downgraded?
No. We won’t lower your service level or remove channels unless you ask us to. If we can get you the same or better service for less, we will.
What happens to my information?
When you submit your details, they are protected through 256-bit SSL encryption and secure form technology. We only use your data to provide this service, and we will never sell it.
What happens if you can't lower my bill?
You pay nothing! No savings, no fee.

Billhaven’s fee is $144.Example 2: If Billhaven negotiates a one-time $100 credit, Billhaven’s fee is $40.Applicable taxes may be added where required.9. How Savings Are CalculatedRecurring savings are generally calculated by comparing your current monthly rate before negotiation with the new monthly rate secured after negotiation.First-year recurring savings are calculated over a maximum period of 12 months. For example, if your monthly bill is lowered by $30, first-year recurring savings are calculated as $30 x 12 months = $360.One-time savings are calculated separately. This may include one-time credits, refunds, waived fees, account adjustments, or other one-time reductions negotiated by Billhaven.Savings may include monthly bill reductions, discounts, credits, refunds, waived fees, or other provider-approved reductions.Savings do not include reductions caused by service cancellations, downgrades, switching providers, removing services, or changes you request separately, unless Billhaven and the customer agree otherwise in writing. If the provider later applies general price increases, taxes, usage charges, one-time fees, expired promotions, equipment charges, or changes caused by customer activity, those amounts are not considered changes to Billhaven’s negotiated savings.10. Confirmation of SavingsBillhaven will tell you the result of the negotiation, including the expected new rate, savings amount, one-time credit or refund amount if applicable, and any relevant provider terms that Billhaven is aware of.You are responsible for reviewing your provider bill after the negotiation to confirm the savings, credits, refunds, or waived fees appear correctly. If the savings do not appear as expected, you should contact Billhaven within 30 days of receiving your provider bill or Billhaven invoice. Billhaven will review the issue and, where appropriate, contact the provider to help resolve it.If the confirmed savings are different from the original estimate, Billhaven may adjust the invoice accordingly.11.
